L*SPACE Behind The Brand: Meet Peyton

Who are you and what’s your position at L*Space?

My name is Peyton, and I'm our Production Manager here at L*Space.

Describe your school + career journey and how you ended up here.

I'm originally from Iowa, and I went to TCU to study Fashion Merchandising. I came out to Newport for a summer internship with another brand, and I ended up graduating early and working for that same brand for about 3 and half years. Then last July I made the switch over to L*Space!

What does your typical day look like?

I usually get in, read my emails, and then I'll run a report to see where we're at with production that week, making sure everything's on time. Some days, I'm visiting our domestic factory or our warehouse and quality-checking production. Other days, I'm participating in fittings or in meetings with our buyer, placing production cuts. So every day is a little bit different.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love seeing the whole process from beginning to end. I'm there in the beginning when design is picking fabrics, seeing the first prototypes that come in, and I see the finished product when it comes into our warehouse.

What’s the most challenging thing about your job?

The ability to problem solve. Something can always go wrong with production, so having the ability to come up with solutions is really important.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I like to be really active! I do a lot of yoga, spin, hiking, spending time at the beach...it's nice to be outside.

Who inspires you and why?

Everyone at L*Space - they're so good at what they do, so it's really awesome to come into work every day and be surrounded by such a great team.

What’s your favorite fashion trend?

Probably sustainability. It's really important to be a conscious consumer, and I love that more brands are taking that route.

What’s your favorite swimwear trend?

Underwire tops - I think they're really flattering and super cute!

What is your #1 tip you’d give to people looking to work in the industry?

Do as many internships as you can, and learn a little bit about all aspects of the industry to see which route you would like to take.

What does THAT FEEL GOOD FIT mean to you?

To me, it means feeling comfortable and confident in whatever you're wearing. At L*Space, quality and fit are #1 for us and during the development process we fit all styles and all sizes to ensure That Feel Good Fit!
